For the past three years, The Broad Center—also known as Broadway Community & Activity Center—has stood as a lifeline for New York City’s underserved and forgotten. Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn, our nonprofit is more than just a community center; we are a refuge, a resource, and a second chance for individuals and families facing the toughest challenges of life. From housing instability, addiction, and food insecurity to mental health struggles, unemployment, and limited access to education, our members come to us seeking more than services—they come seeking hope. And every single service we offer is completely free. But we can’t do this alone.
What We Do – Every Day, Without Fail
- Serve hot meals and snacks daily to ensure no one goes hungry.
- Provide free creative and therapeutic workshops that empower self-expression and healing.
- Offer access to mental health and substance use support, referrals, and harm reduction supplies.
- Create safe spaces for community bonding, day programming, and connection.
- Take members on educational and healing community trips, often for the first time in their lives.
- Provide basic essential items—from hygiene kits to clothing—that most of us take for granted.
We serve the elderly, young adults, families, and individuals navigating the toughest circumstances—and we serve them with dignity, compassion, and zero cost.
