I invite you to check out this news article in the Detroit Free Press from September 29, 2020. It talks about how many Detroit families are currently struggling to support their children in going back to school during the pandemic given the additional associated costs. 

Brilliant Detroit will use the funds raised with this campaign to purchase technology and supplies for Detroit families who have kids schooling virtually from home. So many items are needed: printers, ink, and paper, desks and chairs, headphones and microphones, white boards, markers, calculators, rulers, pens, pencils, crayons, etc.

Brilliant Detroit currently serves 7,000 kids and parents/caregivers through eight locations in different high-need neighborhoods throughout the city (with four more scheduled to open later this year). All of the locations (with the exception of their headquarters in Southwest Detroit) are formerly abandoned homes that they renovate and then open as community hubs where all of their programming takes place.

Want to join me in making a difference? We have all been going through a very stressful year and I realized how fortunate we are to have a roof over our heads, a job and food on our table.  This pandemic has made that impossible for hundreds of thousands families.   It struck me that my usual 35 person dinner at Thanksgiving will now be four.  I have decide to donate the money that I would  have spent  to people who are in need in this difficult time.  I'm raising money to benefit Brilliant Detroit, who is helping , in addition  to all that they do, feed the people in their communities.  Any donation will help make an impact. More information about Brilliant Detroit: Brilliant Detroit is dedicated to building kid success families and neighborhoods where families with children 0-8 have everything they need to be school ready, healthy and stable. We do this by providing proven programming and support year round out of Brilliant Detroit homes in high need neighborhoods. Because we coordinate existing, evidence-based social services in neighborhoods, we are able to scale to eight sites by the end of 2018. We work with, for and by neighbors by building community advisories.
