Donate to Support The Brain Recovery Crew's Mission
Hello! We are TBRC - The Brain Recovery Crew. A group of people dealing with life - after issues with the brain - that part is simple.
I am very aware that my expectation of life is different from others. All I have known since I was 3 years old (when my brother had his car accident) is that bad things happen, and if you survive, you have to work on your new life.
Our Motto "accept the change" is what, as the founder of TBRC, I use when planning our PECS program (physical, emotional, cognitive and speech) activities for the survivors and caregivers who attend our sessions. We want to "challenge the new you" and help work through the depression that is not part of the top three in the rehab world - PT, OT and Speech. For those looking to keep moving beyond "the dreaded plateau" and being discharged from rehab, our No Cost programming will be a good fit for you!
When the organization I was working for previously shut down their program, I could not stop helping "my people". After all, I knew that my family did not deal with my brother's brain injury well, so how could I give up on a program that had so much more potential in it? How could I not make it my life's mission to help others deal with their new changes? And the changes keep happening, don't they? My brother is now aging with a brain injury. I am his primary caregiver and legal guardian - it's a constant learning process for me too.
So, that's why I am here, reminding myself to ask for help. I know the world has many needs right now, so if you are here reading this, thank you for considering making a donation to our 501 (c)(3). We are registered in Pennsylvania and need your help to grow and expand to other states and hopefully internationally! I have been struggling to largely do this myself over the last 15 years. Did you know it takes a good foundation to build on and guidelines in place to give structure to those trying to help you?!! I've learned this the hard way! It takes resources too.
As we rebuild our board of directors (post-COVID) and solidify that foundation, I find myself sandwiched between caring for my brother and my parents, as well as myself. Maybe you know the feeling? Please check out our website and our Facebook page to find out more about us, give us any input you may possess and watch us grow!
Thanks for your time and please take care of yourselves,
Sincerely - Nicole Glass, Caregiver, Founder and Executive Director
and The Crew!
P.s. where will your first dollars go? We are looking for startup funds to pay for: Our Social Media Manager (and overall assistant!); lunch program; outings; liability insurance; and our group facilitator.
