Boise County Search and Rescue

In the wake of the tragic accident on March 7th 2026 on Arrowrock Road that claimed the lives of a father and child, the Boise County community is rallying to ensure such a tragedy does not pass without actions. We are officially launching a fundraising campaign to establish a dedicated Public Safety Dive Team for Boise County Search and Rescue (BCSAR).

Boise County is home to some of Idaho’s most popular and dangerous waterways, including the Payette River, Lucky Peak, and Arrowrock Reservoir. However, the county currently lacks a localized, rapid-response underwater rescue unit. When underwater emergencies occur, BCSAR, Boise County Sheriff’s Office, and local fire and EMS, must often wait for dive teams from neighboring counties. A delay that can be the difference between a rescue and a recovery.

"Boise County volunteers are among the most dedicated and passionate in the state, but they lack the specialized equipment and certification required for underwater rescue,". "This initiative is about giving our first responders the tools they need to help victims during the 'Golden Hour' of survival."

The campaign aims to raise $50,000 to start and maintain the unit. These funds will be managed by BCSAR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and will be used for:

Members of the team have currently started this process out of pocket and are attending their first in person classes on April 7, 2026.

Hi, I'm Earl McCreary, and I'm reaching out to you to help support the incredible work of Boise County Search and Rescue. The mission of this dedicated team of volunteers is to support and strengthen the safety of the people of Boise county. Boise County Search and Rescue Group shall have the power, directly or indirectly, in conjunction with others to do any lawful and willing search and rescue tasks in which the group is organized. Tasks will include:

• Responding to any natural disaster such as fire, earthquake, flood, avalanche or other disaster within or in close proximity to Boise County to ensure public safety.

• The search and rescue of people lost or hurt in the mountains of Boise County

• To support the Boise County ambulance service with EMT and transportation support to any hurt and/or rescued personnel.

Boise County Search and Rescue is completely funded from donations and the members of the team.

Our goal is to buy two Thermal Imaging Binoculars. This will allow the group to search an area faster searching for individuals that are lost or injured in the mountains.

The reason for two Thermal Imaging Binoculars is we have multiple personnel on any particular mission and it will allow us to double our search area. Time is always of the essence on a search and rescue mission.
