Love Kendall County Kids

Help us LOVE Boerne Kids!  Our family has set up a "Lights of Hope" display at 208 Wollschlaeger Drive in Boerne on every night from 8:00-9:00pm until April 18th!

We are raising money to benefit the Boerne Community Coalition (BCC) Summer Lunch Program.  Donations - cash, HEB, and/or Walmart gift cards - are being collected at the light display as well.

The BCC is anticipating an increased need for their Summer Lunch Program this year.  They are hoping to provide over 150 lunches per day & over 150 weekend food bags per week.

·  $2.00 = 1 Lunch
·  $5.00 = 1 Weekend Food Bag
·   $10.00 = Lunch for 1 week
·  $20.00 = Weekend Food Bags for 1 month
·  $165.00=  Food for 1 child for the WHOLE Summer!

More information about Boerne Community Coalition: The Boerne Community Coalition (BCC) is an all-volunteer organization working in partnership with other local organizations who share the same vision – that children in our community should not be at risk of being hungry.  1 in 5.16 children (or 19.37%) face food insecurity during non-school periods.  The BCC has three programs that provide year-long support to children eligible for the National School Lunch & School Breakfast Programs & their families, with a focus on meals, access to enrichment, & help with making homes safer & more livable.

Did you know there are kids sleeping on hard floors in Boerne??? 

I recently found out that one of our high school students, when asked what he wanted for Christmas said, “a pillow & blanket.” (Note: We have awesome school counselors & this child has been given bedding already!)

This statement broke my heart though....so we started reaching out to find out how we can make sure every child in Boerne has proper sleeping arrangements.  With your help, we can meet this basic & urgent need! 

This year, The Jones' CHRISTmas Lights, Boerne Community Coalition (BCC), & Blessings in a Backpack have joined together to help the First United Methodist Church (FUMC) Bunk Bed Ministry provide beds for 60 children by the end of 2020!

More information about Boerne Community Coalition: The Boerne Community Coalition (BCC) is an all-volunteer organization that works in partnership with other local organizations who all share the same vision – that children in our community should not be at risk of being hungry.  1 in 5.14 children (or 19.45%) in our community face food insecurity during non-school periods.  When children are provided the proper nutrition, it positively impacts their physical development, mental health, and academic levels – setting a course for greater achievements in their future endeavors.  What began as an effort to provide summer lunches to children eligible for the Federal Meal Program has evolved into three programs that provide year-long support to these children and their families, with a focus on meals, access to enrichment, and help with making homes safer and more livable.
