Bobbi and the Strays

For my Bar Mitzvah project I chose to raise money for Bobbi and the Strays. I have always loved animals, but dogs are my favorite. My Mom thinks I am a "dog whisperer" because I have never met a dog that wasn't comfortable being around me. If I had my way, we would have a house full of dogs!

I chose Bobbi and the Strays because they are a 100% non-profit, no-kill animal rescue organization. In addition to my goal to raise $2,500, I am also going to be volunteering at the shelter with Bobbi.

Lily, estimated only 4 years old, suffers from chronic otitis of both her ears that were left untreated for quite some time, which can cause dizziness, unending headaches, and pain.  From inflammation, she has severe thickening and scar tissue leaving almost no opening in her ear canals.  Lily just had her first ear surgery.  Our wonderful vet Dr. Weinstein of Howard Beach Animal Clinic performed a lateral ear resection to save her canal.  Lily has a long recovery ahead of her but is in great hands!  Lily will have her other ear surgery once her first ear is healed, as well as needing to be spayed.  We can't imagine all the pain and suffering she has gone through... and she wants nothing more than to be held and offer you a thousand kisses through it all!
