It is the mission of the Backpack Brigade to serve those members of our community in need of a hot meal, regardless of circumstances. Our goal is to address their immediate hunger needs. No one in our community should ever have to go hungry. We provide meals to individuals and families in need., including the elderly, unemployed, underemployed, disabled, migrants, indigents, homeless, and children. We seek to serve the disadvantaged and homeless of our community by addressing the needs of others by providing food for their bodies, kindness for their souls, & hope for the future. The Blessed Backpack Brigade is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization with a dedicated staff, community support and a commitment to educate the public about these issues. Some of our major programs and services include: - A Free Community Fellowship Meal to serve those in need right here in our own community. - Distribution of sleeping bags, tents, clothing, food, and other essentials to try and alleviate some of their suffering - Referrals to services that may be of help such as Salvation Army, Veterans Office, Food Share, Tri-Valley Elder Services, Mass Health, etc. We have established a program that gives volunteers from local organizations an outlet to express their compassion through service to the poor. We serve over 150 people who come to our table for food to sustain them, kind words to help them during their current state, and assistance in addressing their immediate needs.
