Empower Black Filmmakers with Black Film Space
Black Film Space is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the careers of Black filmmakers. Our mission is to provide skill-enhancing opportunities, community-building experiences and knowledge on navigating the film industry for people of African descent.
We organize programs such as film screenings, panels, networking mixers, professional development workshops, mentorship programs, online courses, accountability groups and more.
Founded in 2015 by Reggie Williams and Lande Yoosuf with the shared vision of opening the gates for Black filmmakers, Black Film Space has been an integral part of the filmmaking community through consistent programming. Many members have gone on to write for television, produce films showcased at prominent film festivals, and develop genuine relationships as they ascend through this industry.
Lande, Reggie and dozens of volunteers have dedicated countless hours to enhance the careers of Black Filmmakers in New York, Los Angeles and all around the world. With your help, we can maintain a sustainable organization and continue our programming that enriches the lives of so many Black filmmakers.
Black Film Space Leadership
Black Film Space's leadership comprises Co-Founders/Co-Directors Reggie Williams and Lande Yoosuf and a Board that includes Chana Ewing (Geenie) and Tiffanie Young. Our advisory board comprises Alece Oxendine (Director of Industry & Festival Outreach at Columbia University) and Marissa Crespo (Entertainment Attorney).
