Every student deserves a chance to experience real, hands-on science. But many schools can’t afford the lab supplies needed to make that happen.
That’s where BioLink Depot comes in.
BioLink Depot is a 501c3 nonprofit based in Oakland, CA. Instead of letting valuable scientific materials go to waste, BioLink Depot collects donations of surplus lab equipment from biotech companies, universities, and research labs, and places them directly into the hands of STEM educators who need them most - free of charge. Priority is given to low income schools, ensuring that the students with the fewest resources gain the greatest access.
The Impact (2024)
- 300+ STEM educators visited the Depot — driving in from 18 California counties and even surrounding states — to secure free supplies for their students.
- 90,000+ students gained access to hands-on scientific equipment.
- 100+ tons of laboratory supplies were diverted from the waste stream and given a second life in classrooms.
As of September 2025, BioLink Depot has already surpassed these 2024 impact numbers.
Why We Need Your Help
Running BioLink Depot takes more than passion. Warehouse space, transportation, and teacher open houses all cost money. As a small nonprofit with only 2.5 employees and minimal overhead, donations go directly to the cause.
Specifically, your gift will help:
- Implement an online inventory system, allowing teachers to see what’s available before they visit, saving them time and increasing access.
- Launch a delivery system, so teachers won’t have to give up their weekends to drive long distances to BioLink Depot.
- Keep operations running smoothly so teachers can continue to get free science supplies for their students.
