In Memory of Sumith Alex
As they had been praying, God had another plan – a much greater purpose – for Sumith’s life. On June 6, 2018, after trying to save a man from drowning, Sumith went to Heaven to live with his Savior Jesus Christ. His loving and selfless nature was evident even in death. Despite our tragic loss, Sumith would not want support for the mission trip to waver. While his wife will not be attending the mission trip this year, the team from Black Rock Church will be leaving in early August to meet new friends abroad and serve them wholeheartedly: repairing homes, visiting scholarship recipients, facilitating workshops for husbands and wives, putting on Vacation Bible Schools, and leading sports days, which Sumith looked forward to most.
As the trip soon approaches, above all, we ask that you please pray for the overall trip, praying that the team and those they encounter will radically experience the love of Christ like Sumith had. In addition, if you are able and willing, we are collecting donations for the trip to be given in Sumith’s name; thus, Sumith can also impact the world just as he is impacting his community, as he had been praying all along.
Jesus said, “‘My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends’” (John 15.12-13).
