Honduras Covid Relief
I have had the incredible blessing of calling Honduras my second home for over 30 years now as my parents continue to work there. Like many places, Honduras is being hit hard by Covid, not just through health issues but also through economics. Having family there (non-biological, but in every other way family), I have been hearing the stories and trying to find ways to help the extremely desperate situation that is taking place. With that, I decided to make a GoFundMe to help since it continues to get more desperate. If you can help, please know that ALL funds will go directly to the people who need it the most. People who have been helping over these past few months, but who are on the verge of being tapped out, will cover all wire and administrative fees to get the money to the people. Below is some information on what is going on.
Public and private hospitals are collapsed. They have already reached their maximum care capacity, and sadly, many are dying on a daily basis because they are seeking care when their health is already very poor and they are practically dying when they arrive at the hospital. People are afraid to go to the hospitals and prefer to stay home only with tea and natural medicines, but their health worsens and when they arrive at the hospitals it is already too late.
Some people are dying at home because, due to the collapse of the hospitals, they cannot find a place in any public hospital and do not have the economic means to take their sick family member to a private clinic.
In relation to the economy, all commerce is closed. Only gas stations, pharmacies, supermarkets and banks, restaurants with a take-away service are allowed to be open. Many companies have fired their employees because they have gone bankrupt and many people are unemployed. The movement of people is also restricted. People can go out only every 15 days and only if they have to go to the bank, pharmacy or supermarket.
A few weeks ago, the markets had to be evicted by the police because the vendors did not comply with the law to close their sales, they continued to sell out of necessity since selling fruits and vegetables is their only source of money. Unfortunately it was a large focus of contamination and there was too much crowding of people in that place.
In the surroundings of supermarkets and at traffic lights there are people on the street who are asking for money from cars. They walk with their young children and are in the sun and with dirty masks that are no longer useful, they are asking for money to buy food.
Any amount of money will be a huge blessing to people who have none. Thank you so much for your love and support of our brothers and sisters in other worlds.
