The number of people experiencing homelessness in Illinois rose by 116% from 2023 to 2024. Over 25,000 individuals are affected, but your support can make a difference.
BEDS Plus is a nonprofit homeless shelter in La Grange, IL. Their mission is to "help vulnerable individuals stabilize their lives through housing and supportive services" with the overall vision to completely end homelessness. In 2024, they assisted 3,320 people, including 1,216 children and 468 survivors of domestic violence. I have had the privilege of volunteering in their kitchen during high school, packing groceries for in-house clients and preparing lunches for off-site clients. BEDS Plus depends on community support, including food donations from local businesses, temporary housing provided by local churches (like my hometown middle school, St. Francis Xavier), and contributions from individuals like you.
