This is Lottie, she is a 12 yr old sweet husky mix that doesn’t deserve what she is going through now…it breaks my heart to the point I sent a vet to care for her twice now, and no, I don’t have the funds to do this :( Help is desperately needed please as there will be ongoing care needed to with the hope she fully recovers one day…for now just want her pain free, cool & comfortable.
THIS IS LENGTHY UNFORTUNATELY…
Last week Lottie had a dew claw removed by her primary vet. They had to sedate her and she was still out of it for a couple hours after leaving the vet, so being 97 lbs, she couldn’t be lifted out of the car. Her Mommy Natalie drove around and kept her cool…when pulling into their place, someone pulled out in front of her & Natalie had to slam on the brakes! Poor Lottie was in the back seat and was thrown between the two front seats with her body twisted and partially upside down :( My rescue friend Lisa and I tried to find someone to help get Lottie out of the small car asap…Natalie is in her 80’s with multiple health issues. Lisa called the only rescue she could find in the area and left a message, the police and finally the fire department…they came out and don’t mean to sound ungrateful as they are the only reason Lottie made it out of that space but they pulled her by her legs and it hurt her. He brought her back to the back door/patio and her bed was just a couple feet further inside the house but they would only leave her outside on the concrete :( It was our hope that once the sedation wore off, she could get up and come inside…that was not to be :( Poor Lottie was stuck on her stomach with her front legs forward and her legs somewhat under her but couldn’t be seen. They tried everything to move her, putting a towel under her to hopefully drag her inside but nothing worked. She was stuck there for two days until we finally found a mobile vet almost an hour away that would come out around midnight. She was wonderful, her & her husband were able to lift Lottie inside! She explained not being sure what her issues or injuries are at this point, it could take weeks, months or a year even to recover. She provided meds and we were going to have her follow up next month.
Well, change of plans…the day after this, Lottie was actually able to struggle to get up and go outside to potty! They were so excited! Lottie always liked laying on the cool concrete as it has been so hot out…well she laid down and that was that :( They could not move her or get her up again! We tried everywhere to find a volunteer or paid help to come assist but no luck…so as heartbreaking as it sounds, poor Lottie was stuck in that same spot for 3 days and crying!!! A kind local groomer offered to come try to help but Lottie was growling as she was trying to maneuver her, I am sure she is in pain and scared…so no luck. We had no other choice but to call the mobile vet again … and they came out tonight (as we speak!) to help Lottie. They brought their X-ray equipment with so we can hopefully see more of what is going on with Lottie. Her poor pads are bleeding from trying to drag herself to get up :(
We have let Natalie know that it may take a very long time for her to be able to walk again like before and if this is how she will be for life, Natalie said she will clean her up or put pee pads out for her in the house, so as long as she has quality of life, she will care for her.
I sent her several things to help her help Lottie…a small fan, pee pads & wipes, colloidal silver for her paws with some gauze & pet wrap, an alarm clock to set for her meds, peanut butter for meds, etc! Positive thoughts that we will get her through this now!!!
I will add an update after we hear from the vet (they were expected to be there around 10 pm MST). Paws crossed for good news! Lottie is the sweetest ole girl…
PLEASE HELP US TO HELP HER!!!
xoxo Ann & Lisa
U P D A T E (10 pm MST)…
Well the Vet just left…not good :( She took Xrays and will have them back in 48 hrs but she could see Lottie’s back is bone on bone & very arthritic. She cleaned up her torn pads and moved her inside…they have her on her dog bed with pee pads under her. She will probably sleep all night now, they are to rotate her every 4 hrs…this is my concern, I don’t know how they will do this, she is on one side and her belly needs air as she had urine burns from laying in pee outside :( She left pain pills & antibiotics. Positive thoughts needed that Natalie can do this for Lottie!!!
Anything you can give is greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!!!! xoxo
