Help us purchase our own continuo organ!
Since 2003, Bach Collegium San Diego (BCSD) has performed some of the most significant music composed during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. For the performance of this repertoire we typically require historical keyboard instruments, such as a harpsichord and continuo organ, that play at variable pitch standards and are easily transportable.
Because we've never owned our own continuo organ, we've had to continuously rent an instrument for each of our projects over the last sixteen years! It has sometimes been difficult, to nearly impossible, to secure an instrument due to a lack of suitable continuo organs in Southern California.
Therefore, we are pleased to announce that we have commissioned a 4 1/2 stop continuo organ from KLOP ORGELS (Netherlands) according to the following specifications:
Stopped 8'
Principal 8'
Chimney-flute 4'
Octave 2'
Quint
(Pitch 392/415/440/465)
This new continuo organ is scheduled for delivery this coming November/December 2019. We are very excited in anticipation of the new instrument, as it will eliminate the ongoing challenge of securing a first-rate continuo organ, in addition to the ongoing rental costs. The arrival of this instrument to San Diego will not only be game changing for BCSD, but for the larger San Diego musical community as well. We will be planning to rent the instrument to neighboring arts organizations who may also need a continuo organ.
PLEASE HELP US TO REACH OUR GOAL!
Through the generosity of several donors, we have already raised 75% towards the cost of the new instrument (approximately $42k). It is our goal to raise an additional $5k towards the overall cost of the instrument by way of this GO FUND ME campaign. We hope that you can help us reach this goal!
Having our very own first-rate continuo organ will help us to continue bringing world class historically informed performances to San Diego, and the larger Southern California community.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
