Help Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY!
4/8/20 Message from Lillian (Organizer): We are so touched to see that after two days, we have fundraised 1/3 of our goal already. I just wanted to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart - we see you. We look at every single name of who donated and wish the best for them and their loved ones. Let's keep on spreading the word! The faster we close, the faster we can get the money to Elmhurst Hospital which deserves and needs it!
We are fundraising to help Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY acquire more medical resources.
All proceeds of this GoFundMe will go toward Elmhurst Hospital to assist in their acquiring of additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)* and testing kits, as well as supplementing ancillary needs to protect their staff and ultimately improve patient care (e.g. transportation and housing for traveling medical staff).
As the COVID-19 climate evolves, hospital staff nationally are facing a tremendously increasing burden regarding supply of equipment and staff. Elmhurst Hospital was trending on news outlets and social media last week for being the “epicenter of the epicenter [of COVID-19].” Having converted to a COVID-only hospital, Elmhurst continues to work tirelessly 24/7 to serve one of the most vulnerable and neglected populations in Queens, New York. Let's help protect our hospital staff so they can protect us.
*PPE includes masks (N95 masks, face shields, surgical masks, etc.), gowns, gloves, eyewear/goggles, hand sanitizer, sanitizer wipes, and shoe covers -- all of which keep the user safe from injury or infection. As PPE approaches shortage, hospital staff approaches increased risk for not just COVID-19 but other infectious diseases as well.
