Sponsor Students: ALPHA College Scholarships
ALPHA has recently partnered with an organization in Queens, New York that provides college preparation and readiness coaching for first-generation students in extreme poverty. ALPHA is currently raising money to provide scholarships for a select number of these teens who have been accepted to BYU (an amazing accomplishment!).
The New York students who will receive the ALPHA college scholarships have ambitions to help their families and create opportunities for their future. They are among the most vulnerable youth in the country. With few exceptions, all the wage earners in their families are out of work due to COVID-19. The students have since had to allocate their college savings to provide for their families during trying months.
When ALPHA provides scholarships to students in need, we ensure they have the following:
1) A professional coach to help with the transition from high school to college
2) A college mentor on their college campus to provide support throughout their freshman year
3) Financial literacy training
The scholarships will help with tuition, books, housing, travel (to get them from New York to BYU), food, and other living expenses.
A hundred percent of the funds we raise will go directly to the students. Thank you in advance for your help in supporting and empowering these individuals. We know it is a lot to ask right now, so please know any effort to help is extremely appreciated.
