The Problem
The Clinton Peabody neighborhood is a historic yet under resourced neighborhood in the 6th Ward of the City of St. Louis. Recently, residents have been plagued by a succession of issues, notably a pest infestation which adversely affects the health and well being of this community.
The St. Louis City Housing Authority is working on both short and long term solutions to permanently address structural issues to ensure Clinton Peabody families enjoy a standard of living we can all be proud of. In the meantime, the residents have taken on much of the responsibility to professionally sanitize their units and replace the many household items which were destroyed.
These properties are federally owned, therefore Ward 6 Capital Funds cannot be used to help resolve the issue. The families live with extremely limited resources and the problem is taking a toll both emotionally and financially.
The Solution
A generous local foundation will match your donations 2 to 1. These contributions will be used to purchase the necessary services, supplies and household items to help restore healthy living conditions. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to this important cause.
Oversight
Contributions will be allocated by a committee of residents established with the assistance of the Alderman. The donations will be administered and distributed utilizing guidelines consistent with the mediation agreement between the St. Louis City Housing Authority and the Health Department.
