100 mile bike to support Arogya
Hello, my name is Radhika and I am an Arogya Changemaker.
This September I am doing the 100 mile I PEDAL NYC ride and raising money to support and spread awareness about Arogya, a global health non-profit organization working to prevent diabetes, heart disease, cancer and chronic lung diseases through health education and lifestyle change.
Growing up in a Punjabi home and then working in the hospitality industry, I've had first hand experience in how food delivers love, warmth, and gratitude. My family has a history of diabetes and I have struggled with my own weight and health over the years. I have felt lost in the world of what it means to 'eat healthy' and 'be fit'.
In culinary school I became passionate about exploring what it actually means to be healthy for myself, my family, and my extended community. This education has been transformative. Food is a source of joy and celebration, it is increasingly also the culprit for chronic illnesses all over the world, especially in India. Type II diabetes plagues India and I am passionate about joining forces with organizations who are researching, preventing, managing, and curing this illness. I believe education is a key part of the solution.
Arogya reaches schools, workplaces, and homes through their programs to educate, alert, and support people to make better choices for their health. These programs help people around the world lead healthier lives. I support their mission because I believe in the powerful impact of education. Learning about health education can transform families and homes into healthier, fulfilling, and pain free communities.
I am now committed to educate, help, and support myself and others in figuring out the way towards leading healthier lives. Supporting Arogya is a big part of that commitment. Staying active and encouraging others to do the same is another part of my commitment. Which brings me to my FIRST 100 mile bike ride!
All the proceeds I raise will go towards Arogya. Any donation will help make an impact.
