Ellie's accident
Ellie's story
Ellie was one of 9 cats, a family, that I fostered for another local animal group in 2020. For weeks there had been dialog with the owner and the rescue of this troubled cat family. Momma was unable to produce enough milk. Finally we met in Cheyenne. Momma was skin and bones and so very stressed after giving everything to her babies. Very close to death. Eight desperate, hungry kittens peered out at me from the crate door. Two weeks of handfeeding babies and giving Momma all the high quality food she could eat, brought them all back from what seemed likely death. All were adopted out as healthy, affectionate kitties.
My sister, Jane adopted Momma and two of the kittens to live in her heated horse barn. Within weeks her mouse issue was taken care of. All was great, Momma was getting fat and the kittens were becoming beautiful young cats.
Then, disaster struck! On the fateful eve of November 22, 2021, while closing up the barn for the nite, Ellie unknown to Jane, was up in the rafters and got caught in the garage door. She screeched and Jane quickly opened the door. Ellie ran outside, dragging a severely broken left hind leg. After some convincing she was gathered up into a crate and rushed to the only emergency veterinary clinic able to take her, a 2 hour drive.
The prognosis was not good. She would not heal without surgery. Two more opinions said the same.
Archway Adventures is helping with this case for a variety of reasons. We have experience and knowledge with supportive care and clearly a vested interest in this cat.
We hope to continue offering this service in the future. Helping pet owners with very expensive emergency medical proceedures and supportive care.
With your help we can help with the huge cost of repairing this kitten's leg. if funding exceeds this case, we will start a fund for other pet owners who cannot afford their pet's medical expenses.
