I am from a country where the average person cannot afford proper medical treatment. There are people living outside homeless, and a lot of them suffer from broken limbs or limb loss. Seeing these has always gotten me emotional and feeling like I can't do much to help. As a dancer, mobility has always been important to me. Being able to move freely and without pain is a big part of my life and I understand the power and privilege of movement.

I want to support organizations that work hard to provide care and support for people who live without limbs and/or use prosthetics. I want to be able to donate to the cause and make a difference.

My name is John Register and I am an amputee and former Acting CEO of the Amputee Coalition. As someone who has experienced the challenges and obstacles that come with limb loss, I am passionate about advocating for and supporting the amputee community.

On my birthday this year, which is the 29th year of my amputation, I ask for your help in raising funds for the Amputee Coalition, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of amputees and their families.

Why is this cause so important to me? As an athlete, I lost my leg to a tragic accident, which ended my dreams of becoming an Olympic hurdler. But I didn't let my disability define me. Instead, I used my experience to become a world champion Paralympian and a motivational speaker, helping others overcome their own obstacles.

The Amputee Coalition plays a vital role in providing resources, education, and advocacy for amputees across the country. They offer peer support programs, educational resources, and help with navigating the complex healthcare system. Their work is especially important as we continue to face the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Your donation will help the Amputee Coalition continue its important work and support those who need it the most. Your gift will go towards funding their programs, education efforts, and advocacy work.
