About American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Rhode Island
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Foundation of Rhode Island is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to upholding and protecting the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Since 1959 we have defended and promoted public understanding of these civil liberties. We strive to educate all Rhode Islanders about their rights regardless of their location, tenure, or position. We achieve our mission through three primary areas of focus: Litigation, which involves defending civil rights through the legal system; Community Outreach & Organizing, which mobilizes individuals and communities to advocate for their rights; and Public Education & Advocacy which informs and educates the public on civil liberties issues.
