Mike Rickey Memorial Drive-A-Thon
"Want to join us in making a difference? SportsMedia Technology (SMT) is raising money to benefit ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter in memory of Mike Rickey. Mike Rickey, along with his wife, Keri, served as volunteers on the ball position committee at the Masters from 2014-2019. Their dream was to continue volunteering for many more years to come. Unfortunately, on September 9, 2019, Mike was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), and with the rapid decline in his health, they were no longer able to volunteer. Mike was also an avid golfer, and the first thing ALS took from him was his ability to golf due to weakness in his arms and legs.

Just two years and two months after receiving his diagnosis, Mike “won” his battle with ALS. On December 6, 2021, he passed away quietly at home in a place he loved with the people he loved. It may sound strange to say he "won his battle", but Mike never defined his battle by how long he lived. He defined winning as remaining true to his faith, true to his values, and true to his outlook on life. With those as his objectives, he won. He was an incredible man who always put others before himself. He was an inspiration not only to his family and friends but to everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

I, along with my colleagues at SMT, would like to make a donation that will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause; that means so much to us at SMT.

Mike and Keri Rickey, of Peoria, IL, have been volunteers on the ball position team at the Masters since 2014. Late last year Mike was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Unfortunately, his disease has progressed to where he cannot volunteer anymore. In his honor, we are making a donation that will help make an impact. Feast for Families
Thanksgiving Meals for Families Affected by ALS in Northern Illinois, Chicagoland, and Central Illinois

While the world cautiously opens back up, individuals living with ALS and their families continue to find themselves limiting their social interactions, experiencing bouts of isolation, and at times, still living in a quarantined world. All of this while continuing to face ALS and the physical, financial, and emotional burdens that come with the disease.

Last year we proudly launched Feast For Families…a campaign to fund Thanksgiving meals for the individuals we serve. The opportunity served as a way for our donors to have an immediate and direct impact on our local ALS community; and it was a HUGE success! Nearly 90 families benefitted from the generosity of our donors.

By donating $90, you will provide a complete meal to a local family facing the daily struggles and challenges of ALS in our service territory throughout Chicagoland, Central Illinois, and Northern Illinois. Our goal is to raise $8,100 by November 24rd, to accommodate 90 deserving families that have requested a meal.
