Bigger Truck for the Food Hub
The Iowa Food Hub connects farmers and families by bringing local food to schools, childcare centers, restaurants and grocers. A project of Allamakee New Beginning, an innovative non-profit working to make northeast Iowa a better place, the food hub is growing!
The more we grow, the more fresh local food we’re able to provide to area school children and eaters of all ages. And, the more impact we have to support markets and put income in local farmers’ pockets. This year we will help farmers sell over $200,000 of local foods to families, schools, childcare centers, restaurants and grocers.
We’re growing our mission- but we’re outgrowing our delivery truck! Luckily we have an exciting grant opportunity to get one, but we need your help!
We estimate that we will need about $36,000 to purchase a used delivery truck. We are applying for grants that will cover half of the cost for this project. The grants require matching funds. The hub has secured $10,000 already. Here’s where you come in -- if you can help us reach the rest of our match goal -- our grant applications will be more competitive.
With a bigger truck, we’ll add more routes to our operations, serving more farmers and reaching more schools with fresh, local food. Help us help Northeast Iowa.
