About Alamosa Veterans Memorial Park INC
Frank Muniz— The man with a vision Frank Muniz was a US Army Vietnam Veteran, 1st Calvary, 2nd Battalion, 5th infantry (Airmobile). Drafted in 1963, he served his country and was honorably discharged in 1969. He fought in what has been called the worst battle in Vietnam, Ia Drang Valley. The battle is documented in the book by Lt. Gen. Hall Moore’s book “We were Soldiers Once…And Young” as well as the movie We Were Soldiers. Frank's dream was to build a Veterans Memorial Park to honor all veterans. From the idea to the plans, to the design, Frank was behind it all. Frank passed away September 09, 2024. Members of the Committee, volunteers, local Alamosa businesses, and friends are working hard to make sure the Alamosa Veterans Park is all that my dad dreamed of.
