Akron Roller Derby Inc

*As a 501(c)(3) organization, Akron Roller Derby, like many other organizations, has been hit hard financially by the pandemic. In order to keep fans and players safe, WFTDA, our governing body, has placed stringent guidelines preventing teams from competing and practicing.  Like all other leagues, we are unable to host our regularly scheduled events. These events were one of our main revenue streams. Without these events we have held smaller fundraisers and relied on the dues from our league members to maintain our leagues home. 

We have been fortunate enough to have our own practice space to call home since July 2011.  Many skaters and teams have called this space home or have visited “The Penthouse”.  All that have come through have helped make this space what it is today.  While we have not been able to use our space since Mid-March 2020, we still have had to maintain our financial obligations to the landlord and are now at risk of losing this space.

As the COVID numbers are starting to decrease and a vaccine is starting to trickle into the community we hope to start using the space again individually so that we can slowly start getting back to what we love, but we need to be able to maintain our obligations.

We need your help to keep our space and our leagues home. If you have ever been a fan of roller derby, of NEO Roller Derby, NEO Jr, Rubber City Roller Debry, or Akron Roller Derby, or have been to one of our games, skated at the Penthouse, or have been a vendor please consider donating. Every donation will help keep roller derby alive in Akron!
