Adopt a Golden Orphan Puppies Need Our Help
Adopt a Golden got the call about two adorable golden retriever puppies in need of rescue. The intake team organizing everything said yes. The transportation team organizing rides to pick up those babies said yes. The foster parent who agreed to open their home and love them like their own said yes. The medical team who needed to make appointments for booster shots, deworming, microchipping, and more said yes. That's how it works . . . if there is a golden in need, we say yes.
Tonka and Tugboat arrived safely at the foster's house and seemed a bit sleepy. Puppies grow, and that is a lot of work. That requires a lot of sleep, right? But then the sleeping grew a bit worrisome. They started to seem lethargic and uninterested in interacting with the family at the foster home. They turned down food. Everyone grew concerned. A trip to the vet confirmed our worst nightmare: Our puppies had parvovirus.
Parvovirus is a virus that attacks the lining of the digestive system and also attacks healthy immune cells. The mortality rate of puppies that go untreated by a veterinarian is high. However, with treatment by a veterinarian with round-the-clock care, the survival rate is almost 75%. But that the around-the-clock care needed to save these babies is expensive. But Adopt a Golden did not hesitate to say yes. We always say yes. They went to Blue Pearl where they received IV fluids and 24-hour care. Without the constant care and and attention from the medical professionals and the entire staff at Blue Pearl, we don't think these babies would be here today. But here they are, running, playing, chewing, learning . . . waiting for their new families to say, "Yes! That is the one!"
But now we need help. We have a 10,000 bill that we don't know how we are going to pay. We said yes, and now we need you to say yes. We need you to say yes, we will chip in. Yes, we will skip that morning coffee run and send that money instead to those babies. Yes, we will help you help them. Yes, we will always be here, supporting you so that you can pick up the phone and answer that email and always say yes to these golden retrievers.
