2nd Mission Veteran Sober House
Our military veterans face a complex battleground after service, struggling with mental health challenges like PTSD, suicidal ideation, substance use, depression and more. Alarmingly, VA data suggests a potential link, with 75-95% of veterans diagnosed with PTSD also suffer from substance use disorder. This highlights the critical need for specialized support programs and especially in Duval County with the highest population of military veterans in the state of Florida
My name is Dr. Barry Tishler, I am the Executive Director of the Addiction Education Foundation Inc., a Florida 501-3-c non-profit, and the program manager for the 2nd Mission Program. I am reaching out to you today to ask for your help and to join us on our MISSION to help our Veteran and First Responders heal and recover from PTSD, substance use, trauma, and addiction.
You can be a part of their 2nd Mission restoring veteran lives to meaning, pride, and purpose.
The 2nd Mission Veteran Sober House is a pioneering sober living environment specifically designed for military veterans, located in Jacksonville Florida, our mission aims to establish a tranquil, safe, and supportive environment for veterans to heal and overcome PTSD, substance use, trauma, and addiciton. To connect our veterans to each other and wrap-around services and benefits that they need and/or are entitled too that will ensure whole-vet recovery and pathways towards sustainability and purpose.
What sets 2nd Mission apart is its comprehensive approach to recovery, operated by the Addiction Education Foundation Inc., seeking DCF and FARR (Florida Association of Recovery Residence) certification. This veterans-only facility will provide a nurturing, home-like setting where residents gain strength through brotherhood, integrating formal therapies and counseling with animal therapy, twelve-step programs, and peer support that address the deep-seated wounds of war and service along with employment and educational assistance towards long-term recovery, self-sufficiency, and sustainability.

It is my hope that you join us in this very personal mission to as I serve for the legacy of my father who is a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran. My father was inducted into the Legion of Valor by the 1991 Congress and a recipient of the US Army’s Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, Air Medal, Republic of Vietnam Medal of Valor and numerous other awards and citations. My father was also deeply committed to helping vets obtain need services and served as the vice commander of the DAV, district 3, and post commander of the VFW, 558 and was deeply committed and fought for those MIA after he returned home from the war.
It is in his name that I now honor through a legacy of service-
Sgt. Thomas “Bullet” Bouchard 8th 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division Air Mobile
