Above & Beyond Cancer Foundation

On May 31st, 2026, the three of us—Ellarose, Danielle, and Heather—will be hitting the streets of Manchester to run the Manchester Half Marathon. We aren't just running for the finish line; we are running to give back to a charity that has been a lifeline for someone very close to us, the Above & Beyond Cancer Foundation operating in central Bedfordshire.

The support they provide goes "above and beyond" medical treatment—offering the emotional strength, practical guidance, and community care that makes the impossible feel manageable through 1:1 contact for patients and their loved ones. Seeing the impact they’ve had has inspired us to lace up our trainers and raise as much as we can so they can continue supporting others in the same way.

A Message From Us: Training for 13.1 miles is a challenge, but it is no comparison to the strength shown by those fighting cancer every day. Whether it’s £5 or £50, your donation provides us with the extra "fuel" we need to get through those final miles in Manchester.

On Sunday 19th October 2025, John, Megan and Daisy and I will be taking part in the Battle Cancer Challenge at Olympia in London. We fancied the challenge on a personal level and see it as a great opportunity to do some good too.

On Friday 12th September I will be walking 10 miles round London on the Thames Moonlight 10.

I think you would be hard pushed to find someone who hasn’t been affected by cancer in some way, shape or form and the support they need and get is sadly lacking for a lot of people. It’s not just the person with the diagnosis but their family too!

I have sadly lost family to this awful disease and help others with it too so I want to be able to give something that could make a difference to them like Karen and Jayne do.

I have chosen this charity as they have been a life saver for myself during the last 18months while I have navigated a very hard breast cancer journey which had a lot of complications from allergic reactions to chemotherapy and then severe side effects to immunotherapy which had me in hospital and a neurological rehabilitation centre due to having a double stroke which was caused by blood clots and then having Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) which is a rare autoimmune disorder where the body's immune system attacks the peripheral nerves, causing muscle weakness and sometimes paralysis which affected me with paralysis and unable to swallow and my breathing this was due to a simple infection of oral thrush which was worse as my own body was fighting it self as well as trying to fight the cancer. I had a lot of medical complications and nearly every organ was affected and there were times when I thought I would never walk again or even worse not get home to my young daughters and family members, but I defied all odds and kept fighting and after a long 215 days away from home I got home in time for the Christmas period. I am still not out the woods yet and have to attend regular medical appointments but I will carry on with my recovery but my hard journey was made a little easier by the amazing support I had from this amazing charity Karen one of the founders was there at the side of my hospital bed in the very small horrible hospital room or rehab centre or end of the phone when I didn’t want to put on my family as they had enough to do with caring for our children and deal with me being so poorly with her kind words, support and lovely gifts and a decent coffee so she kept my spirit up. Even lending me a walking aid to help with my rehab which I still have to use on a regular basis so I have decided to to challenge myself and give back to this amazing charity so please if you can help even it’s just a pound every penny helps them to continue to support myself and a lot of other people during these hard times. I have chosen to do a 5k walk on 22nd June 2025 a year on from my operation to remove the cancer I know 5k doesn’t sound a lot to most people but thinking I was still in a wheelchair and hospital bed in January this year and still have no feeling in my legs and weakness still this is going to be very tough but I will achieve it even it it takes me all day I will cross the line and raise as much as possible for this charity.

In July 2018 on my 11th birthday I donated 18 inches of my hair to the Little Princess Trust and also raised money for them. I patiently grew my hair again and in May 2022 I sent another 18 inches of hair to them and raised money for the children living in Ukraine.

I’m proud to be donating my hair again for the third time to the Little Princess Trust as they do an amazing job creating wigs for children that have lost their hair through cancer treatments.

I will be hosting a fundraising coffee morning on Saturday 5th April 12.30-2pm, when my hair will be cut by my wonderful Auntie Maria who is a professional hair dresser and teacher. Please join me for a slice of cake, drink and a catch up.

This year I have chosen a charity close to my heart as they’ve helped my mum a lot through her cancer journey. I'm raising money in aid of Above & Beyond Cancer Foundation and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution.

This charity has helped people close to us through the most difficult times of their lives, so any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Right so here it goes..

Throughout the month of April I will be running 65.5 miles (2 and a half marathons) for a local charity called above and beyond cancer care and here is why..

A wonderful and very brave lady I have had the pleasure of meeting through work one year ago (yesterday) had her whole life flipped upside down when she was told the mass she found is cancerous and had spread. Stage four cancer and incurable.

I can’t even begin to imagine what Kelly and her family have been through and there isn’t a lot I can do help but I can try to raise some money for an amazing charity that has offered them support.

So Kelly while you fight this with everything you have i will run the miles…
