Help publish 'Para el Alma' - A culinary memoirs book
Para el Alma is a book that gathers culinary memoirs of eleven Colombian women, members of the MAFAPO and MOVICE collectives, whose loved ones were victims of state crimes known as “false positives.” Each story is tethered to a recipe and the traditions of seven regions in Colombia.
This book dares to remember. It places stories of state violence beside family dishes, placing dignity on the table and reclaiming food as a tool for memory.
Through fire-cooked meals, cornfields, and childhood aromas, these women call their sons, daughters and brothers back into life— not as statistics, but as names, flavors, and stories. Each recipe is an act of love. Each page an altar of remembrance.
All stories and photos are ready, and the book design is currently underway. We need your support to cover printing costs and the labour behind the production to finally publish the book. 100% of the sales will benefit the eleven women featured in it.
‘Para el Alma’ is created in deep collaboration with mothers and sisters from MAFAPO and MOVICE collectives, alongside
