Surgery for Button

Donation protected

Button is our rescue dog that we've had for about four years and has been having issues with her bladder. (IE Accidents.) We've taken her to two different vets and the last one seems to have gotten a handle on the problem. After taking X-rays, we found out that Button has large kidney stones lodged in her bladder and that can only be removed surgically. The estimate of the surgery is in excess of $1,600 for the entire course of treatment. We live on social security and this would be a catastrophic burden. We love Button. She is such a kind and gentle soul. We deduced that she had been badly abused by her previous owner to the point that she would walk with her head down as if waiting to be beaten. It took over a year of TLC before she began to respond to our love and  she now walks with her head up.

The vet says that there are about half a dozen kidney stones lodged in her bladder and they are too large to be passed through the normal channel. Surgery is the only answer. The stones are not round and smooth and are damaging her bladder and as a result she is in great pain when she urinates. Blood is very visible in her urine and I can tell that it hurts. IFwe don't do the surgery she will eventually bleed out and die.

I have heard of people setting up go fund me pages but I never thought that I would have to ask for help. My wife and I have always been very independent and here we are requesting help from strangers. We would be forever grateful for any help we receive to save Button. She deserves to have a happy life, free of pain.
