In the blogging and social media world in Calgary, everyone knows Mitch. He has an easy smile, is a whiz at WordPress and is always ready to help you if you manage to kill your site without meaning to.
What you may not know is that Mitch has been living in his truck in Canmore since mid-2017.
A friend, supporter, and colleague of ours needs our help. After looking for full-time work for almost two years (while still supporting many of us in the WordPress community), he has been unable to find full-time employment. Working part-time and living very frugally has allowed him to stay above water during this time but this month, things took a turn.
Mitch's truck (and home) needs $2900 of repairs RIGHT NOW. Without these repairs, he will have no way to get to his part-time employment and nowhere to sleep.
It is hard to understand how hard of a hole this is to climb out of alone. Basic things like a haircut, a home cooked meal and the dentist are all things that can be beyond the reach of those with economic uncertainty.
My Ask:
- Mitch needs immediate cash for truck repairs and food
- Mitch needs leads on job opportunities in Calgary or Canmore
- Be kind. While I appreciate that everyone is well-meaning, know that questioning where he lives/mindset/trying/etc is not helpful at this point. Very few of us know how it is to be in this position.
I decided to do this GoFundMe because Mitch needs our help. He would rather NOT have to ask for help. He is a hard worker who just wants to have the opportunity to work hard and have enough to have a life without the stress of poverty. We can at least help him over this hurdle.
