CROSSFIT IRON DUST
CrossFit Iron Dust (CFID) owned by Tyler and Amanda Marrs has been a local business in Simi Valley, Ca for about 7 years. We started out as Marrs Fitness, a local bootcamp which quickly gained a loyal following due to Tyler's TRUE knowledge of real fitness, recovery, and ability to connect with people, learning about their strengths and weaknesses to build fitness that fits each individual... rather than just being a "motivator".

CrossFit Iron Dust has built a name for itself over the years as a box that truly cares about each and every member.  We are not a box that is self serving in any way.  We struggle through blood, sweat, and tears to put the clients first over everything else. Our clients will testify that they have never seen such passion, and honesty in trainers. We constantly are improving our knowledge and always doing everything we can to build each individual though injury, mental weakness and much more.

ABOUT TYLER MARRS
As a youth, Tyler played elite level Soccer, Professional Paint Ball and many other sports. Tyler excelled in these activities and gives much of the credit to his early start in strength and conditioning.  He grew up around Olympic Lifting.. learning from many of the best, including- Mike Bergener*  In his experiences he learned that It would be imposible to build people's true potential without building strength and mobility. When Tyler decided he wanted to coach adults and youth, he knew that in order to build this potential, the best method would be through CrossFit. So he obtained a level 1 CrossFit and Level 2 Certification.  His passion for teaching youth has led him to always stay on top of new research, training, and mobility techniques.

ABOUT THE CFID YOUTH PROGRAM
"Jr. Barbell Club"
CrossFit Iron Dust currently has one of the most elite strength and conditioning programs in Simi Valley and  the surrounding areas. We have built our youth athletes into confident, independent, and extremely strong individuals.  Each one of our Jr, Barbell Club members are required to take at least 10 introductory private sessions before  entering into the Jr. Barbell Club program. We require this in order to be sure that the athlete is not only physically ready, but mentally ready for our style of workouts.  We make sure they perform perfect technique and postures before any weight is EVER added. This ensures safety before anything else, as well as proper progression to heavier weight.

Once the athlete shows self sufficiency, safety, body control, and the desire to learn, they EARN their entry into our Jr. Barbell Club.  Our athletes find this as a huge accomplishment due to the fact that it is earned.  It teaches them how hard work will pay off.. and that hard work is required to get where you want to be.

Tyler and Amanda Marrs get to know each and every athete personally, learning their strengths and weaknesses, but also get to know them as humans- NOT Dollar Signs- as each child learns in different ways.  We connect with them and build a mutual trust that the child and family need, and deserve from a training experience.

OUR GO FUND ME MISSION
In our amazing experience with training youth athletes we have seen the positive influence it can do for a child's confidence, abilities, family and social life.  They truly just become better humans. We have seen this first hand and that is why we are so passionate about educating youth and parents about what real fitness truly is and how to obtain it.  We have a few goals:

1.  SCHOLARSHIPS -  To raise enough funds to allow kids that cannot afford training such as this to have the opportunity to do so.  We would like to provide kids with CFID Jr. Barbell Scholorships.  The money raised would go towards educating kids about nutrition, and recieving this exremely high end training at no cost to them.  We see the potential in these athletes, but also the hardship that comes with financing school, sports, and training.  Our mission is to change lives and create better humans.

Many of our youth athletes have also found a passion in Olympic Lifting and would like to pursue this path in a more serious manner.  In order for CFID to facilitate these dreams, we are in the proces of becoming affiliated with USAW as a sanctioned weightlifting gym and team, and need to purchase far more equipment to accomidate the high level of lifters that will follow.

Scholarships to be awarded:
-Full Scholorships
- Partial
* scholorships will be based on performance, hard work, ethics, acedemics, teamwork, leadership skills and more.

2.  EDUCATION - Eduacate schools about proper training. This is a MAJOR reason why we want to do this.  We hear it all the time... our athletes go to school for their sports strength and conditioning.  The teams are left in their gym with extremely little to absolutley no supervision or direction. Kids start lifting weights - heavy weights- without the proper knowledge on how to do so safely.  They do this to impress thier friends... and even worse.. to impress their coaches that put pressure on them to lift heavier.  There are so many common misconceptions on youth training with weights.  If taught properly- kids will not have knee problems, shoulder problems... etc.  They will be able to build muscle to resist injury!! Tyler currently helps out at Chaminade Prepetory High School with the Football team. Working with the kids and the coaches on how to train olympic lifting properly as well as a progressive conditioning program that doesn't get stagnent with coaches that have too much on their plate (i.e. coaching their sport, trying to condition the kids, teaching classes, and sometimes other outside jobs.  We feel that kids progress more and are safer when they have coaches that specialize in one area and work with them in only that particular area).

3.  Equipment/Continued Education/Coaches
Currently CFID is run soley by husband and wife Tyler and Amanda Marrs.  This is our only job/career becuase we believe in it and have a passion for it.  While many other box owners have a day job, we want to put every ounce of our efforts into helping people in this area, because it is necessary. Due to this,  budgets are tight and it is hard to keep up with the demand for our services as well as have enough equipment.  Donations would go towards buying new equipment, further educating ourselves in different areas of fitness so as to always provide children with the most up to date and elite training.  We would also use donations to further educate our current level 1 coaches.  We pride ourselves in giving each athlete the attention they need. It is absolutely not acceptable to us to have large classes and not enough watchful eyes to make sure everyone has safe movements.

WHAT THIS WOULD MEAN TO US:
Throughout our years of training kids, we have seen them grow, mature, build confidence, strength.. they literally become better humans that are good to others, more understanding of people in need of help, as well as more understanding of what it means to work hard for something you want.  We have also seen kids that find passion in this arena, and excell, however their parents have to pull  them due to budget.  We do our best to help all kids that show a want to do this, but we can only do so much and still keep our doors open. If given the opportunity to grow and help these kids have a chance to learn and grow, kids and parents would see how important this type of education truly is.  It would help these kids reach their goals and pursue a dream that many don't take serioulsy enough, or understand just what it can do for a childs future in regards to confidence and hard work. For Tyler and Amanda, everyday we put our lives second to our clients. Struggling to make ends meet, spending weekends and evenings going to youth competitions, events, training, and programming.  We sacrifice making our lives better in order to make your child's life better.  For us, it would mean that we could breath easier and have less stress so that we can focus even more on what we do best- what we feel we were meant to do- help people.

JUST A FEW OF OUR ATHLETES:

JADEN SKINNER (14)
Jaden Skinner started at CFID about a year ago, and her progression is undeniable. Form before weight... you can see that she worked her way to the heavier weights properly.  Jaden  broke her leg in a soccer tackle.  No excuses.. after surgery she was back at the gym with modifications.  With the rehab provided by Tyler Marrs, our physical therapist Wade Malesich her docters were AMAZED at her extremely quick recovery.  Her bones healed in half the time expected.
Her goal: Make it to the CrossFit Games as a youth athlete in 2016-2017.
Idols: Lauren Fischer  and Brooke Ence

(1st shot was about 10 months ago; 2nd was only a few weeks ago)

ALICIA PORTER  (14)
Coach Tyler Marrs at his Youth Athletes Jr. High Graduation- Alicia Porter- member of Jr.Barbell. Made Varsity Basketball and Varsity Vollyball as a Freshman at Simi high as well as earned multiple scholarship awards at Valley View Jr. High. In order to stay active in our Jr. Barbell Club program, all athletes must maintain a good grade point average. If grades are not upheld, they are put on suspension until they get better. This may mean we lose kids, but it is  more imporatnt that kids grow in the right direction.

Every single one of our youth athletes is now stronger, more powerful and mentally tougher than most all of their teammates in their respective sport. Coaches and parents alike can't understand how these kids get so strong and so fast, regardless of their individual size. This new found strength has given them the confidence they need on the playing field, in the gym, and in life.

BLAKE ANTZOLULATOS (15)
Athlete Blake Antzolulatos on the playing field.  Blake was sought after for his incredible talent, strength, and conditioning in football, as well as grades. High schools such as Oaks Christian, Harvard Westlake, and Chaminade accepted him for his outstanding grades and athletic abilty on the field.  He decided on Chaminade Prepetory and was asked to play on the Jr. Varsity Team as a Freshman.  Blake Antoulatos has been doing his strength and conditioning at CFID for 4 years now.  He was also selected as a standout athlete, and had a special made about him by "Under The Radar",  which can be seen here: Blakes Highlight Reel
GOAL: Collage football

ANDREW DEVINE (15)

Alijah "Monkey Day" Salas Vasquez (14)
Athlete Aljah Vasquez, or just "Monkey" started her sports path in the BMX biking world.  She was already an amazing athlete when she came to CFID, however with proper training and conditioning, she was able to boost her bike stats to be one of the Top in th NATION. After learning Olympic lifts from Tyler Marrs as well as the Likes of Olympian Norik Vardanian  (who does oly programming for CFID as well as seminars), she has decided that her passion is in lifting and has set her sites on  representing the USA in the weightlifting world like many of her idols such as Mattie Rogers  and Jourdan Delacruz
