Cedar Pointe Fire - Bldg F

$1,055 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 18 people in 5 months

The Cedar Pointe Village 1-5 - Building F was destroyed in a fire May 28th,  Memorial Day evening, around 8 pm.  No one was hurt but all 10 units are uninhabitable and those owners lost their home, all their belongings and have had to find a place to live.  We were asked by the neighbors, friends, other villagers and passersby if they could help in any way - so we have set up this GoFundMe Page.  Any donations are seriously appreciated and considered a personal gift.  Funds collected will be evenly distributed among the 10 owners, hoping to help them pay their Home Owner Association (HOA) fees while they wait for the condos to be rebuilt.

Hi to Cedar Pointe 1-5 friends:

Thank you for your interest and generous contributions; our Building F residents appreciate it, along with all Cedar Pointe 1-5 residents for helping our friends and neighbors. Here are some current updates:

1. Around August 8th I delivered a check for $806 ($853 minus fees) to the Cedar Pointe 1-5 Association, $80.60 to be applied to each building F condominium’s HOA fees.
2. A CPV friend and neighbor, Frank Mezzepelle, had me on his Friday evening talk show (WSTU 1450 am) to talk about the Fire and this GoFundMe page - so we had some publicity. Frank’s show airs Friday nights from 5–6 pm and streams online here: https://carolwpsl.wixsite.com/wstu1450.
3. Although the scene is the same, some progress has been made on restoring the building: Brent A. Wood has been engaged as the architect and Belfor Property Restoration as the “Clean -Up” company. They have ordered the necessary tests, such as lead and asbestos, and will start cleaning-up the building as soon as the ‘path is clear’.
4. I will be holding a Good-Intentions Meditation (also known as a prayer group) for the effectiveness, efficiency and safety of all workers restoring our building. Stay-tuned here for details…
5. This GoFundMe page has slowed down a bit the past few weeks. Please help spread the word to your circle, in the hopes they would like to contribute. You can use this link in an email: https://www.gofundme.com/cedar-pointe-fire-bldg-f#. If it doesn’t work (and sometimes it doesn’t) just copy the text or Google “GoFundMe Cedar Pointe Fire".
Thank you ~

Hi all:
Based on some preliminary information presented at the special Board Meeting this week, it looks like we may be able to "rebuild", rather than "demolish & build"; which is good news, as that would take less time and money. Estimates are being reviewed to begin 'cleanup'; which will, hopefully, begin very soon.
All condo members have found some kind of temporary housing and we are glad they are, at least, somewhat settled.
Thank you for your donations and please share this page whenever you can ~
