Carson May's Memorial Fund
Our goal is to ensure that future search teams are aware of, and have quick access to, state of the art SAR technology tools. Details about Carson's search and information about the resources we discover will be posted at http://www.CarsonMay.org
Carson would be the first to rant about how bad the tech was in this situation and how we could make it better for someone else in the future. If we save one life, we are successful and we honor Carson.
-With love from Carson's dad and family
We took the opportunity this summer in spite of me being in the midst of cancer treatment to hike from Donner Lake to the place where Carson’s body was found. It was physically challenging but emotionally very rewarding.
Here is a link to a short video with me narrating.
Also, we have started the paperwork for nonprofit status for Carson Technologies and hope that will happen by the end of this year. I still have my sights set on seeing a demo of the WolfHound drone prototype under development in Switzerland.
Stay tuned and thanks again for providing seed money for this project.
It has been 6 weeks now since Carson’s memorial celebration; about the same amount of time he was missing. Time seems to fly while also standing still. If anyone wishes to see the April 24 memorial, let me know and I’ll send you a link to a video.
A Carson Technologies organization has been established and we now need to apply for nonprofit status. If anyone is adept at this application process, please let me know.
I have continued to immerse myself in the SAR community starting with presenting at two conferences in early May. There is a mountain rescue conference in Washington later this week, which I cannot attend but a couple of the people involved with Carson’s search will be there and we have given permission for them to talk about his search. A big part of improving rescues is around education and we wish to be part of that as well as searching for technology solutions.
I previously mentioned the WolfHound Pro cell phone detection technology, which looks more and more promising. It has been mounted on drones by a small company in Switzerland and preliminary tests look good. My hope is that we can help facilitate that development and bring the product to the US. I was planning to see the device demoed in Switzerland this July but have had to cancel in order to have Chemo and radiation treatment for tonsil cancer. Yep, another big trauma to cope with. I hope to be back on my feet with Carson Technologies and my other projects by September or October. During that time, we will work on the nonprofit status and our WolfHound friends will still be developing and testing. It is just me taking an unscheduled break.
Thank you all for your love, support and contributions to Carson’s GoFundMe campaign.
Note, there is a fundraising event in Tahoe City this Friday at 8 PM, in memory of Carson, called Dance to Advance SAR; Hacienda Del Lago, 760 N. Lake Tahoe Blvd (inside the Boatworks Mall)

Thank you for sharing this. It's a beautiful spot. Thinking of you and Carson, and wishing you healing of every kind. My kids and I backpacked 44 miles in 4 days this summer to the back country cabin where my son is living & working in Sequoia National Park, the last place my kids were with their Dad last summer before he died suddenly in August 2015. It was also physically challenging, but very emotionally fulfilling. It's good to make these pilgrimages in honor of our loved ones, and the beauty of nature is sustaining.
