Chad C's Medical Help

$7,515 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 133 people in 11 months
This GoFundMe is being set up for Chad for medical needs now and as yet unknown procedures in the future.  We want to thank everyone who has shown love, concern & support for Chad & our family this week, during his health emergency.

Long story short as a kid, Chad experienced a kidney issue when it was discovered he had a kink in his ureter tube that goes to the kidney. He had surgery, then a stent, & from age 13 to age 30 he has lived a healthy, active life. Four years ago, it was discovered that he was in stage 3 kidney disease, when double pneumonia & pink eye landed him in the ER & we learned there were kidney issues.

Over the course of this past week, he has undergone a handful of Dialysis treatments to adequate clean the blood in his kidneys. The near future still lands us at Mayo Clinic with still more testing and watching including a biopsy which will hope to guide our next direction.

Currently Chad is in stage 4; which leads us to unknown journeys ahead.  The possibility of the kidney restoring itself.  Potential for long term Dialysis Treatment and down the road, most likely Transplant.  The staff on ICU & Joseph have been outstanding.

Chad has been a Photojournalist at TV6 for 11 years, and has enjoyed seeing the many adventures and journeys of those in SEMN.  The stress of losing his Dad just months ago & now this health emergency causes him & our entire family anxiety ~ anyone who knows Chad, knows his nature is happy, fun-loving, positive & he has the heart to help others always. ALL this medical care comes at a price, it's Mayo -- with all the tests & nearing a week so far of hospitalization, added to the future procedures needed, there will be great need to reach out & ask his friends and family to help him in his time of need.

With the outpouring of support shown so far, we are hoping this GoFundMe gets out to ALL those that know & love him & pray that if you can help, you will feel led to....as well as sharing the heck out of this GoFundMe.  In his 11 years so far being a photojournalist, he has met a lot of great people and made amazing connections.

THANK YOU, one and all! Bless you.

I've always felt that Chad's health journey is not just about his story back to wellness....it is also about all the other thousands of people waiting....some for SO long....to receive their miracle. Chad and our family will forever be grateful to Chris, his donor, for stepping up to save his life, improve his quality of life and provide his miracle. If YOU can help someone, please consider doing it! I wanted to donate a kidney to my son, but was ruled out by Mayo due to my cardiac event of 3 years ago. I also can no longer donate blood, either, due to multiple joint replacements, but I DID give blood through the Red Cross, for years. Again, there are THOUSANDS of people needing help, I've seen firsthand all the patients getting dialysis every other day alongside my son Chad, and seen hundreds of people we've met in the Transplant Center and at Clinic appointments as we awaited Chad's many appointments. Whether it is a blood transfusion (Chad required MANY during his illness and hospitalizations in ICU last Summer), be it a kidney transplant, liver or whatever the case may be, if YOU can help others, family or not, would you? We are all on this Earth to be the hands and feet of God to help others. Thankfully, Chad's wonderful donor Chris felt the call to help! He is forever a Hero to us!

Please: Help Chad here if you feel led.
Help others always if you can!

Chad and his donor Chris Douglas continue to do well in their transplant journey! Chris is definitely a hero to our family, for his self-less act of improving Chad's quality of life. But Chris has done far more than just improve Chad's life -- in essence, he has given Chad his life back in a lot of ways. Chad is free of 3 times weekly dialysis, which gives him over 12 hours a week back. He's definitely feeling good, and is slowly regaining energy, too! He's gone from daily clinic appointments now to weekly until the 4 month mark, when he will need a kidney biopsy to ensure there is no rejection occurring. We continue to pray that the underlying IGA Nephropathy never recurs. Here is a great update from the Mayo "In The Loop" about Chris and Chad.
Please consider helping Chad with all the medical expenses if you can. Thank you...
