Support for Team Scarey – Sarah Carey & Family
In 2014, young wife and mother Sarah Carey was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. Although the tumour was quite small, triple-negative is the most aggressive form of the disease. Sarah underwent a lumpectomy, intense chemotherapy and radio therapy, and was overjoyed to be told in 2015 that she presented with no evidence of disease. More joy came in 2016 when, despite being told the chances of conception were slim, she fell pregnant with her second child.
That joy was short-lived when, while still expecting, the cancer reappeared. Sarah’s daughter was born via caesarean section at 32 weeks and seven days later, Sarah had a mastectomy, then began another round of treatment. So it began, her cancer reappearing several times locally; first in her mastectomy scar, then later in the lymph nodes under her right arm. Now, two years later and despite endless hospital visits for infection and countless rounds of chemotherapy, it appears the odds are against her. Sarah’s discomfort has grown so much she can no longer work or drive, the tumour in her neck having grown to such a considerable size, she’s unable to comfortably lay down to rest.
Ongoing treatment is up-in-the-air at this stage. The Carey family prays that there is something new to try as the last few rounds of chemotherapy did nothing.
This page is being set up to aid the family in any additional treatment, therapy and support. Dave (Sarah's husband) is tirelessly burning both ends of the candles and is constantly spinning plates to keep the family on-track. Dave is the most resilient person I know; he lost his father to cancer when he was five and in 2008, his mother passed away from lymphoma, so from here Dave is going to need any help and support he can get.

My name is Jeff Hughes and have known Dave and Sarah for 12 years,
Dave and I started our journey with Shannons many years ago and we share the same passion for all things motoring. Dave and I have become good mates over this time and I would do anything to help out my mate and his family going through a tuff time such as this. Both Dave and Sarah are the most upbeat, positive and loving people that I know.
All funds raised will be used by the Carey family as they chose but primarily there for anything needed through out and into the future past Sarah’s Illness. Dave will need all the help financially moving forward to assist in managing a family while caring for Sarah.
All donations received will be distributed to the family as required throughout the duration of this fundraiser.
