Colorectal Cancer

Hi, my name is Kevin Joyner. I was diagnosed in April 2014 with stage III colorectal cancer. I had 6 weeks of Radiation & Chemotherapy together at the same time to help shrink the tumor. The treatments did work to shrink the tumor, & I had surgery to remove tumor and surrounding area July 2014. The Doctors had to remove part of my colon and all rectal area, leaving me with a permanent colostomy bag. Also removed part of my tailbone. Surgery went well until rectal incision got infected leaving me with an open wound that needs to heal from the inside out, which I have been battling for the last 5 months. I have been unable to work. My job, in which I worked for 14 years sent me a letter in the mail last week (January 2015) letting me know that they had fired me for being out too long. I have been in a terrible mess with only a small amount of short term disability and bills are mounting up. I have a wonderful wife who works hard to try to keep us floating while I am battling this disease. Also have 2 awesome little boys, a 6 year old and a 5 year old. I am hoping and praying the wound I have heals and the Chemotherapy treatments that I am taking now will make me cancer free so I can continue to heal and one day get back to normal. Thank You!!!
