Dear friends,

As you may have seen or heard, our Island has been struck by a catastrophic category 5 hurricane. Hurricane Irma has done horrific damage to St. Maarten, our marina and boats. We are deeply saddened by the damage caused, but also extremely grateful that our loved ones are all safe.

But, now comes a tough time. 4 of our boats: Coastal Pleasure, La Bonne Vie, C'est la Vie, and Gama II have sustained serious structural and accessory damage. This will easily cost tens of thousands of dollars. if not, more. This is why I, Victor Boonstra, want to send as much help as possible to SXM. Alan is my uncle and Paul is my father.

We are a small scale company, who rely heavily on tourism. With the destruction of hotels and infrastructure and destruction of Alan's house, we are forced to pause our operations for a few months. Time we need to repair our boats. Of course, with no business, and a low financial buffer, we are in a very scary time. we cannot do these without help. This is why we ask you, as not just a company, but as one big family, which includes our loved ones, our captains, all of who have liabilities to help us in any way possible, so that we can get back on our feet as soon as possible. We'd be so grateful if you could send your love, or appreciation for any wonderful memories made with us, in the form of small relief funds.

The boats require new engine parts, fiberglass jobs for the chunks of the hull that were removed, new accessories, etc. We cannot tell exactly how much this will cost because yet we haven’t made a full assessment. All we know is that this will easily cost tens of thousands of dollars.

I will grant my father, Paul Boonstra, and my uncle, Alan Walraven, access to the withdrawals, and once his plans are more concrete on how we will distribute our spendings, we will use the raised money as an aid.

From the Caribbean, your captain, on behalf of Alan, Coleen, Paul, Carol, Francois,  Gervais, Juliette, Carlos, Debbie, and Myles.

Victor Boonstra

Very thankful for all your donations! So far, only the Awesome and Awesome too are in seaworthy state. Will start cleaning up the mess ASAP. Once the sludge on the Island is somewhat moving again and we can order parts and salvage the other boats, we will be in full repair mode
