Canterbury to Rome on Foot

Over a year ago we had a mad idea...to walk to Rome from Canterbury following an ancient pilgrim's route. The Via Francigena covers at least 1900km and 3 months walking, crossing the length of France, the Swiss Alps, and into Italy, and includes three mountain ranges.

We have decided to try and raise some sponsorship money along the way. It was difficult to pick just one deserving cause so we have chosen a few to split any money raised between.
Soteria Brighton an organisation I have volunteered for. Set up to promote compassionate alternatives to the coercion and compulsion that many people with mental health problems experience with traditional psychiatric services. Run entirely by volunteers it hosts regular talks about alternatives to medication and hospitalisation

School for Life Romania, the charity my sister has helped set up and run for the past 25years, that provides special education and supported housing to deprived adults who suffered neglect, abuse, and institutionalisation, in childhood growing up in an large orphanage in Romania"

The Bumble Bee Conservation Trust supports the conservation of bumble bees through habitat conservation and management, education, and campaigning. They have projects UK wide, including a project local to where we live in Dungeness.
