4-H Camp Canoe-nity Garden

The 4-H Campfire Council is excited to support the campaign to raise funds for a "new" project at L.G. Cook 4-H Camp - a brand-new "Canoe-nity Garden."  Camp will be re-purposing some of the aged, leaky, no longer-lake-worthy vessels and will be turning them into garden planters. This new centerpiece of Camp will serve as a great welcome/farewell site near the entrance to facility, as well as a great laboratory for our gardening classes, and the provide the opportunity to supply 4-H Camp-grown vegetables, fruits, and herbs to our Dining Hall kitchen.

In true camp spirit, this endeavor will be a community effort.  Scotts Lawn Care Company is donating all the organic soil and natural plant-feed we'll need for the whole project. Lowes of Newton has donated all the lumber we'll be using for the fence. Dreamscape Designs is once again helping with their construction and landscaping expertise. The Sussex County 4-H Summer Blossoms are doing the designing and the planting, and we're getting help and guidance from the Rutgers Master Gardener Program and 4-H groups across the state.

We have already received a generous $500 donation to get the project started!  This is a great first step towards the Canoe-nity garden.

The final step is looking for small financial contributions to help with the finishing touches! Any amount, no matter how small, will help have this Canoe-nity garden up and growing for Summer 2018!

For those of you who are not familiar with the Campfire Council, we are a group of alumni and friends of camp who like to help carry on the camp spirit.  Our goal is to provide support to camp in a variety of ways, whether it be financial or volunteering.  All of the funds raised here will go directly to the Canoe-nity garden!  Just in case you're interested, we are a New Jersey registered 501(c)(3) organization.
