What Doesn't Kill Us....
When I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in September 2016, I never in a million years would have thought it could kill me. Not me. I had to quit nursing school and had a long hospital stay but I was pretty sure I'd get better. But cancer, just like me, refuses to do what it's told and does what it damn well pleases. So it looks like I'm going to need the most aggressive treatment out there. So it's called Car T cell therapy, a type of immunotherapy. This treatment has a chance of saving my life but insurance does not cover it. My family needs financial support. I have two amazing kids and a hard working hubby. Karma is forever.
There are no words for the gratitude I feel for all that not only donated but shared this campaign over the last couple of months,
Recently, they discovered that they cannot do the CAR T Cell Immunotherapy due to a random antibody they found that may attack my donors cells.'
So, they have a different plan for me, As my leukemia is extremely resistant to therapies, they have put me on a lighter chemo treatment until they can either do the full bone marrow transplant or they can buy some time to do a stem cell transplant which is different from the bone marrow in that they use umbilical cord blood, This is a very intense and aggressive treatment and will require me being in the hospital for an extended period of time,
Send all the good vibes you can guys, I am trying to remain positive. I am very close to my goal which I would love to reach and possibly exceed for my family.
