Cancer Has Turned Me Upside Down

Donation protected
Several months ago, I was hit with a very aggressive cancer which showed by way of a tumor eating into my tongue.  I had the tumor surgically removed, and biopsied.  My worst fears were realized when the biopsy results showed it to be malignant.  About the time the surgery had healed, another sore started on the left side of my tongue.  It soon became obvious that another tumor had started to form, and this one was very aggressive and fast acting. While I was waiting for an Operating room and a team of surgeons to become available, I had the extremely uncomfortable experience to watch the tumor destroy a little more than half of my tongue.  It was the most painful thing I've ever experienced.  When I finally was able to get the surgery done, it was a 12 and 1/2 undertaking, since they didn't just removed the tumor, they removed a bunch of tissue from my left leg to be used in the reconstruction of my tongue. All went well, and I am recovering as well as can be expected.  They decided to give me six weeks of radiation therapy to make sure the cancer was really gone. So much for the back story.  Medicare and MediCal cover most of my medical expenses, but not all.  I get some rides provided by various agencies, but sometime things go haywire.  I had to pay $60 out of pocket yesterday for a Lyft ride from a speech therapy appointment at UCSF to home. The reason I'm starting a fund is to help pay for the occasional expenses for supplies or rides that aren't covered, but the main reason I need financing is to make the move from Humboldt County, where I've been living, down to Marin County, where all my providers are located, and where I need to be to get the best possible care to bring me through this challenge with the best possible results.  The move is going to set me  back $2500 to $3500.  I'll have to have the trailer I call home towed down here. Realistically, I am going to be disabled for up to a year or so.  I may be unable to eat for many months, which is probably the hardest part of this whole adventure.  Don't ever lose sight of the little things in life that make it rich and varied. "You don't know what you've got till it's gone." In any event, I sure hate to beg, but here I am doing it. Go figure!
