Combat Veteran Art at Burning Man

Donation protected
Camp Hellnback brings military veterans and art to Burning Man, a weeklong event in the Northern Nevada desert to share their stories and perspective of combat and their transition home.  By exposing the awareness and artistry of veterans to a community built on acceptance and expression, participation can be cathartic for both veteran and visitor.

We are using donated funds for two large art projects and to purchase displays and ship art from around the country.

We are building a 32 foot long Memorial Wall, on which loved ones of peace time and combat veterans can have names added to the wall and write messages through our website or in person at the event.  At the end of the week, the wall will be disassembled and brought to the temple, where it will be burned as a symbolic way to say good bye or let go of the pain, hardship or burden that we carry for our lost comrades and family

and

a 9 foot tall, 6 foot diameter art installation dedicated to the 22 veterans per day that commit suicide.  A steel spiral staircase with a pair of boots on each step climbing from a symbolic pit of war and leading to a platform that ends mid air. It is our hope not to just bring awareness to their plight, but to question what can be done to reach out to those suffering.

Alternative Ways to Support Us:

E-Gift Cards at Home Depot We are happy to accept Home Depot gift cards which guarantee 100% of your donation goes to construction materials instead of web fees and might be a more comfortable way of giving for some.  They can be emailed to [email redacted]

Additionally we have a wish list for materials and supplies for those who would like to donate goods or reusable materials.

Thanks to some special friends of the project, we met our base financial goal for on 6/29/15.  We have extended our goal to allow us to ship additional art and to apply for non-profit status to set us up to reach more veterans and artists and share our mission outside of the Burning Man community.

If you have any questions about our financial goals, art projects or Camp Hellnback, itself, please contact us here or go to our website www.camphellnback.com

Thank you for your interest and support.
