Back in the 1940s and '50s, we were a family of 7 children growing up in the North End neighborhood of Boston. When I was a little girl, the First Mariners Baptist Church helped my family escape from the city every summer and provided us with the opportunity to visit the countryside. Our happiest summer memories were when we stayed at the Pond Homestead in Wrentham, Massachusetts. Here, the neighborhood children, my siblings, and I learned about nature, sang, danced, played sports, swam at Jones' Beach, and most importantly, got to just be kids! We attended the Cressey Chapel and enjoyed a time of reflection, song, and prayer. If it weren't for someone else's generosity, we wouldn't have had this experience.  Our camp days were the finest impression of love, kindness, friendship, faith, and so much fun!

The Pond Homestead is no longer a campsite today. Instead, two other camps have taken its place: Grotonwood in Groton, Massachusetts and Oceanwood in Ocean Park, Maine. In addition, we are proud to say that the facilities have been updated to accommodate the disabled, which includes veterans, adults, and children of all ages, because of the generosity of donors like you.
