We are dedicated to the positive developmental impact that the arts have on children, therefore it is our mission to make photography more accessible to children everywhere. Our mission is to teach photogrpahy to children living in marginalized communities as a means of self-expression and empowerment.
Consider donating just $1 today to help ensuring Cameras for Kids growth and longevity so that we may be able to continue to offer these creative programs on-going to as many youth as possible. With the upgrade we will continue to build on our existing annual program at Little Wound School in Kyle, South Dakota and begin looking toward offering programming in other communities on the Pine Ridge Reservation. With the support of these classroom tools we will also be looking ahead to offering an inner-city school program here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
After one of our supporters donated (10) Nikon Coolpix cameras and extras we are now need of just a few more things. The funding will help provide us with the following materials needed to facilitate our 5th Annual Cameras for Kids Photography workshop in Kyle, South Dakota on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation: (1) Canon Pixma Pro 100 Photo Printer, 4yr. Printer Insurance, (4) Full sets of Ink, (1) Oil Change, and Enough Gasoline to get us to/from/around South Dakota. Additionally, reaching that goal of $1100 will allow us to purchase enough ink and photo paper to host our First-Ever Cameras for Kids Milwaukee, Wisconsin Youth Photography Program between the Fall and Winter of 2018!!!!
We believed that this new upgrade will allow us to considerably expand the overall reach of our organization. Previously, we have operated completely by means of analog photography through various donated 35mm film cameras and building pop-up darkrooms wherever we went. By upgrading our cameras to a digital format we will not only be able to teach children still photography, but film-making and underwater photography as well. Additionally, it will allow us to mobilize exponentially faster and more efficiently.
