CAMDEN’S CAUSE

Hello All,
I am sharing this on behalf of my late Son Camden and Wife Chelsie.

As, many of you know the past 5 months has been a very trying time for our family. We are so grateful for such a strong support system not only from our friends and family but the community as well. For those of you who were not aware of our situation, I will share our story.

On January 13th 2017 my wife Chelsie and I were headed to her 20 week ultra-sound as we were expecting a new addition to our family! It started as a normal day and Chelsie and I were in good spirits looking forward to the ultra-sound. Unfortunately, the rest of the day did not go so well (as Chelsie said “A true Friday the 13th”). We found out there was a problem with our baby, we did not receive a ton of information that day but were referred to a specialist. We both knew there was something wrong but did not know exactly what the diagnosis was. As we both worried for the next few days.

On January 18th, 2017 we found out from the doctor that our, what seemed to be healthy baby had anencephaly (neither of us knew what this diagnosis was).  Anencephaly is when the skull and/or brain does not develop during pregnancy and happens in 1 out of every 10,000 births. In turn, the doctor informed us our baby was not going to make it. Over much thought and heartache Chelsie decided she would carry our baby boy Camden Lou full term. We also, decided that we would donate his organs in hope that our loss could help out others in need.

On 5/17/2017 Camden Lou was born at 5:31 a.m. weighing 4 lbs. 2 oz. and measuring 16 inches long. Fortunately, the delivery went very well and the staff did a great job. Camden even fought long enough to meet his big sisters and grandparents as we were able to get many family pictures. At 10:45 later that morning Camden passed away. Although we only spent a short time with him, he has touched us and others in ways we never thought possible. We would also, like to thank all our family, friends, and the community of Atlantic for all the support, love, prayers, flowers, gifts, and food. This has definitely made it a little easier for us to get through this trying time.

Through this tragic experience it is easy to say why us? Why our baby boy? After some time to reflect, Chelsie and I began to think of the positives that could come from our difficult time and loss of Camden. We were thinking how could we help others in similar situations, how can Camden have an impact others. That is where we had the idea to start a GoFundMe page not only to help others who are going through a similar situation. We often thought of people who were not as lucky and fortunate as us to have such a strong support system. And how we could help those people who would have difficulties paying for funeral arrangements, medical bills and other burdens that come during this difficult time. In Memory of Camden Lou, We are calling it CAMDEN’S CAUSE and the outreach is to help people through tragedies such as ours supporting Pregnancy & Infant Loss.

We will be sharing and giving feedback so you can see the direct impact your gift to CAMDEN’S CAUSE has made for those in need.

Thank you for supporting CAMDEN’S CAUSE and please pass along!
