For those who don't know my dear friend Raymond Camden, he is currently employed as a Developer Evangelist at Auth0. If you're not familiar with that title or the software industry, his job is to help programmers understand technology and he's highly regarded as one of the better conference speakers and bloggers in the industry. He's also one of the kindest, gentlest people you'll ever meet. I've known Raymond for 14 years and there are few people I know that are as genuinely nice, caring and helpful as him. I can't even articulate how much respect I have for him but I know for a fact that I personally wouldn't be where I am today in my career without his influence, friendship and assistance.
On May 23 Raymond's wife Jeanne passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Unfortunately I never got the opportunity to meet Jeanne, but I know that Raymond loved her more than anything else in this world. Everytime I picked up Ray at the airport for a conference, the first thing he'd do after saying "hello" to me would be to text Jeanne to let her know he landed safely. Everytime we'd sit down for dinner together he'd excuse himself to give her a quick call and catch up on what she and the kids did that day. And at the end of each and every call he'd say "Love you babe" and hang up and smile. From everything he has told me and everything I've ever read about her on Facebook she was a beautiful person.
Raymond and Jeanne have 7 beautiful children. He's given so much to various programming communities and programmers over the years, so now it is our turn to give back to him. 100% of the funds collected will go directly to Raymond to be used for whatever needs he and his family may have during this difficult time.
My heart is broken for you Ray. I can't even put it into words. I love you buddy and I'm always here for you.
