On January 1, Lamar and Lindsay Austin celebrated the birth of their son, Cainan - the first baby born at Concord Hospital in 2017. Unfortunately, attending the birth of his son cost Lamar his job as a part-time security guard.
No one should have to choose between their family and their job. Welcoming a new baby to a family should be a joyous time
I do not know the Austin family personally, but spoke with Lamar before setting up this page. This GoFundMe is an effort to ease any financial pressures they may be facing as they welcome a new member into their family and experience the unexpected loss of income.

What about the family medical leave act? The father has a right to medical leave even if unpaid up to 12 weeks. What his company did was illegal.
How can a boss do such an unkind act to a father to be,,,I wish this family nothing but success...
He doesn't qualify for the FMLA. He only worked there 1 month.
Change the goal to 100k! I attended the birth of all four of my children and I would not miss it for a job, any job. Send a message to corporate america that this is absolutely unacceptable discrimination against fathers!
Make the donation amount more. 1000 isnt going far with a new born.
Some companies are heartless like that I can see that this did happen. If women can take leave when they have a baby a father should legally be able to be there too as a part of their child's birth. Some of these cheap sake companies need to revise their policies to include father on leave too. I hope Mr. Austin is able to find a more suitable job that offers such. #Familyfirstalways

I should say, that company should be boycotted. Spread the word so they can understand that" we the people " are an integral part of the business world. So they just can't throw someone under the bus as they please . God will take care of this family cause that's HIS business...xoxo

Kristy Craig, Do you mean make the goal amount more than 1k and not the donation amount, right? This would make one who want to donate be more hesitant to donate amount without knowing your relation to the recipient.
