Hello! My name is Maurice Carrubba and I'm inviting all my friends, family, associates and my clients as well to join me in supporting the California Fire Foundation. It's a unique non-profit organization that does excellent work to support the firefighters that take care of our families, neighborhoods, businesses, and homes.
As everyone in the Bay Areas knows, 2018 brought many fires to the West Coast, devastating thousands of acres of forest across California, Oregon & Washington. Many families, their homes and businesses were affected by the fires. These major fires are an annual emergency that is met by first responders. Firefighters are on the front lines of this response as they work to contain, manage and prevent fires in our forests, neighborhoods, homes and, workplaces.
Because firefighters protect our families in our local neighborhoods and forests and we are asking our friends and customers to come together and help these brave men and women.
Through the California Fire Foundation, you can directly support firefighters, the families of fallen firefighters and those people recovering from fire devastation across California.
At the Grandview Restaurant, we are keenly aware of the danger of fires to our neighbors, our land, facility, farm and the natural beauty around us. From all of us at The Grandview Steakhouse and Event Venue, Wedding Venue , and Grandview Farms San Jose, we are asking: please join us in supporting this organization that supports firefighters and their families. So many days during fire season we see from our perspective on the hill, the smoke that fills the South Bay Area basin. The smoke alone is a health problem our friends and family deal with. Ever-increasing demands on firefighters in the light of increasing incidents in California have put a strain on the budget of fire departments across the state. Through the California Fire Foundation, they are allowed adequate funding for some essentials for their department. Funds raised by the foundation go directly to purchase equipment needed by departments that is used to purchase equipment that just might save your life, the life of a family member or that of a neighbor.
Business groups, organizations, celebrities, and so many individuals have stepped up to help these efforts. With these funds we are raising we can support department rescue and evacuation boat fleet and so much more. What’s even more – the California Fire Foundation is running an array of socially-focused initiatives to aid local communities, such as supplying aid to victims in emergencies, fire prevention talks and scholarship grants, the Pipes Drums California Professional Firefighters, National Child ID program, California Firefighters Memorial and others.
The California Fire Foundation is the first foundation in California to provide non-governmental funding to firefighters. The Foundation is dedicated to aiding our bravest men and women with the necessary funding, tools, technology, and equipment so that they may be able to best serve and protect the citizens of our state. The California Fire Foundation also provides financial assistance as needed to families of fallen firefighters who have perished in the line of duty. Building and maintaining the best fire department in the nation requires supplemental non-governmental funding, and The California Fire Foundation has answered that call.
We, at Grandview Restaurant, just like all fellow Californians rely on firefighters as our first responders. They answer the call with their commitment to save lives, and in the process, kept our community and loved ones safe. The California Fire Foundation has and will continue to work with fire departments to determine their shortfalls and assist with critical funding on a regular basis - providing the support needed to our brave men and women to assist them in protecting the public and our communities. FIREFIGHTERS ON YOUR SIDE
Through the innovative Firefighters on Your Side program, firefighters themselves provide critical fire safety tips in Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese and Tagalog, as well as in English. The program also targets California’s senior population with disaster preparedness information.
CALIFORNIA FIREFIGHTERS MEMORIAL
In the autumn of each year, the California Firefighters Memorial Ceremony honors fallen firefighters and their families, and performs the sad task of adding new names to the memorial wall.
PIPES & DRUMS OF CALIFORNIA PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS
The Pipes and Drums of CPF has become a popular fixture at important gatherings of firefighters. Playing in the great tradition of Scottish bagpipe bands, the group lends an air of dignity and honor to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
CALIFORNIA LAST ALARM SERVICE TEAM (CAL-LAST)
Developed in conjunction with the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation’s Local Assistance State Team (L.A.S.T.) program, Cal-LAST provides departments and locals with a team of individuals who can assist with every aspect of a line-of-duty death funeral.
SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS
The Daniel A. Terry Scholarship provides higher education financial assistance to the children of California’s fallen firefighters.
SUPPLYING AID TO VICTIMS OF EMERGENCY (SAVE)
The Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) program provides emergency short-term financial assistance to fire and natural disaster victims in California year-round, including both firefighters and civilians.
NATIONAL CHILD ID PROGRAM
Established nearly two decades ago by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), the National Child ID Program distributes a Child ID Kit, which allows parents to collect and secure vital fingerprint and DNA information in the event a child is abducted.
FIRE PREVENTION FUNDING
The Foundation and PG&E have partnered in helping local fire departments and firefighter associations address these issues through a $1 million grant.
