I'm Drax, an Internationally Certified Natural Henna Artist based near Atlantic City, NJ. I've been a henna artist since 1998, and love creating beautiful designs for my customers. My degree in Art & Design led me to experiment with many different fine art media over the years, and when I discovered henna, I found a new passion- working on living canvas: YOU!
My Partner, Patricia, and I would like to thank each of our customers, friends, fans, and followers who have so joyously accompanied us on this 18-year henna journey! It's your hugs, love and smiles that have kept us going and have made us feel so great about coming to each new event. I take great pride in every design, and I love the creativity that flows through me when you trust me to design something completely new for you.
We really, REALLY love doing henna!
However . . .
We've come to the realization that if we're going to continue to do henna events, we will need to make some drastic changes to our set-up.
Over the years, you've seen my henna "booth" evolve and change. From an umbrella with a little card table and 2 chairs, to the 12x12 current booth that takes at least two hours to set up. Oh, did I mention the 4-to-6-hour ordeal of the Mega-Booth we use at 4-H and Lakewood?
Which brings us to the present... due to some new physical limitations, we can no longer continue to do henna with this kind of booth. After months of research, brainstoming, and refining, we have decided that a "Henna Caravan" would meet our needs perfectly, and allow us to continue doing the henna that we both love. It will be a gypsy wagon, which we will be able to tow to the festival site behind our little truck, drop it in place, throw open the doors and start creating beautiful artwork on you in minutes. We'll be able to begin working fresh, without having spent 2+ hours struggling with our booth and pounding stakes!
We've done our homework, we've found an experienced builder who is willing to create this "tiny henna home" for us from the ground up, and we're ready to start. This is where you come in. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!! We will need to have the Caravan built by the beginning of May, so that we can paint it, put the finishing touches on it, and have it ready for travel in time for the New Jersey Renaissance Faire at the end of May. Having this new set-up will enable us to continue to be able to do the henna that we both love, seeing all of our good friends that started out as customers, and meeting new friends. Which is why we're asking each of you for help.
